MJt.L.VCJJ OPJ.-VCJ4 02’' T222J M.-l/A, Friday livening. !•’t j:i n<;. —The Wavcrley Rifle Volunteers will lire for the Government prizes to-morrow morning. They will parade for inspection in the afternoon, as well as the Cavalry, and it is supposed there will he another sham fight. School Examination. Yesterday was quite a gala-day here among the young folk. At 1 i o'clock the public examination began. This was well conducted, and things passed off harmoniously. Then came the distribution of prizes. These were given away by Mrs Allsworth. The prizes were awarded according to the number of marks obtained during the year, and wore selected by the Committee. Mr Norman inspected the writing and slate geography. A special prize was given for geography, and another for arithmetic. After the prizes were given out, the chairman not being present, Mr Mason, ex-chairman of the School Committee, on behalf of the Committee testified their satisfaction at the results of the examination. Mr Allsworth then briefly addressed the young people, and called for three cheers for tlio school committee, which vriis heartily responded to. Mr Allsworth then called for three cheers for the teacher, Mr Scott, which again was rcpomled to. The school then broke up, and will reassemble on the 20th January next.
