Terms—Three guineas each mare ; two or more mares as per agreement. Cocksure —A brown horse, bred by Henry Bedwood, Esq., in 1872, Got the imported horse Towton, out of Certainty. Certainty the dam of Dead Shot, sire of Mata, the New Zealand champion racehorse of the day. Certainty is' by 11 Barbiere, her dam Chance by Sir Hercules, out of Finesse by Toss, out of Flirt by Mariner (Arab). Towton (own brother to the Peer), bred in England in 1850, got by Melbourne out of Cinzelli by Touchstone, Brocade by Pantaloon. Cinzelli the winner of the 2000 guineas, and dam of Towton, the Peer, and Marquis. Cocksure is rising 8 years old ; as a 8-year-old, won the Hutt Park Stakes and Auckland Handicap, and was winning the Auckland Cup easy when he ran off the course, and was never raced afterwards.
