Certainty the dam of Dead Shot, sire of Mata, the New Zealand champion racehorse of the day. Certainty is by 11 Bavbierc, her dam Chance by Sir Hercules, out of Finesse by Toss, out of Flirt by Mariner (Arab). Towton (own brother to the Peer), bred in England in 1850, got by Melbourne out of Cinzclli by Touchstone, Brocade by Pantaloon. Cinzelli the winner of the *2OOO guineas, and dam of Towton, the Peer, and Marquis. Cocksure is rising 8 years old ; as a 3-year-old, won tho Hutt Park Stakes and Auckland Handicap, and was winning the Auckland Cup easy when he ran off the course, and was never raced afterwards.
