Towtou, sire of Puriri, was also sire of such celebrities as Old Tambourini, Koran, Songster (sire Hornby), &c. Half brother to the famous Marquis (sire of Painter, Ncwminstcr, and Grand Prix) who won St. Loger, Two Thousand, and ran Caractacus to a head for the Derby. Waimea, dam of Puriri, was the greatest stud matron in New Zealand, her progeny having won more races and 'produced more winners. Her descendants were Manuka, Toi Toi (dam Kakapo and Hornby), Harokcke (dam Korari), Totara, Papapa, Kauri, Rama Rama, and Reveller. Good paddock at Waitotara. By the above it will bo seen that President has a pedigree second to no horse in the North Island; and his stock are allowed by competent judges to be equal to anything in the Wanganui District, and are all very docile and splendid workers.
