Mrs Swan, of Lafayette, Indiana, a devout Roman Catholic, killed herself because her son married a Protestant. A New York paper states that a young lady named Dehart, at Point Mariner Island, has recently passed through a fast of thirty-two days without food or water. The fast was not voluntary, hut was carried out by the recommendation and under the surveillance of the attending physician for the cure of ulcers in the stomach, which has been effected.
