A Test Case.— lf anyone of a practical turn of mind desires to test this, and at the same time learn the effect of advertising on business, let him advertise in two lines, in the most obscure part of some newspaper,, that ho. wants to buy a dog. If he does not want the visitation this will bring him; let him insert another line in the midst of a batch of advertisements that Itc will no longer pay his wife’s bills, and then go among his acquaintances and observe,if there .is anything peculiar in manner that would seem to imply that they had read the notice.—Taranaki Herald.

In my New Zealand Clothing and Outfitting Department, notwithstanding the enormous reduction, outrageous sacrifice, and sham wholesale prices advertised by sundry drapers in this district, I find on examination that none have yet succeeded in touching the quality and prices of my Men s, Boys and Youths’ Clothing-, Shirts and Hats. I attribute this to the fact of being able to buy largely in Clothing and direct from the manufacturers, thus saving all intermediate profits.
