WHAKAMARA.
The School Committee met on the 17th. Present: Messrs Williams, G. \V. Gane, Pain, Edwards, Bremer, and the Chairman. Correspondence read. Proposed by Mr G. W. Ganc ‘‘That it is with feelings of regret this committee learn, re letter of the 10th instant, the inability of the Education Board to erect a school house at once, as wc have used our utmost endeavours to get 1 lie school up by the end of the present year ; wc having at the proper time applied to the Education Board for the funds, who in due course forwarded the application to the General Government, wc fondly hoped the Government had provided for the erection of our school in the building grant placed at the disposal of the Wanganui Education Board.” Seconded by Mr Pain and carried. There are twenty children attending school, three only being under five years of age. The Chairman stated he had made;the necessary arrangements with the surveyor to lay off the school site, on receipt of necessary information from the Land Officer.
