Mr Alfred Buckland’s Weekly Report.—At the Haymarkot, on Friday last, there was a small supply of fodder, which Bold at previous week’s values. In horse stock less than the usual number were sold, but late values wore sustained. Strong riding and active light harness horses brought from £l4 to £3O each ; an American buggy, £3O; and the Taukan allotment, £62. On Saturday, at Waiuku, there was a full muster of stock, both cattle, sheep, and horses. A very numerous attendance, and fair inquiry throughout the sale. All yarded were disposed of. At Hemucra, on Thursday, dairy cattle of good quality brought from £8 to £lO ; aged and indifferent slock from £4 10s each. A large number of calves and yearlings met with a slow sale, but maintained their late values. Fat cattle were in less number than required ; the usual number not having arrived from the coast, prices were higher than last week, and ranged from 27s to 30s for Auckland-fatted, and 26s to 27s for shipbornc. The show cattle sold brought respectively—for the cows, £l4 12s 6d and £l4 ; and for the steers, £lB 17s 6d and £l7 15s. Sheep were in moderate number only, and advanced slightly i«i prices. The pen of prize wethers brought 30s 6d each. Lambs were in full numbers, and maintained last week’s values—from 7s 6d to 15s each. Tory few pigs were yarded. Messrs Hunter and Nolan’s Weekly Report. —Horses : The market has been unusually active, and prices have an upward tendency. Cattle : Holidays interfered with our
Newmarket sale, which had to be hold on Wednesday, as well as the Pukeho sale. We quote 2s per lOOlbs advance on the average price of beef as compared with the previous week, but for other descriptions there were no noteworthy alterations. Sheep were plentiful, and receded slightly in value, 1.6s being the highest price for shearlings, while lambs sold for 15 s. Pigs; Supply small, consequently prices were in advance of market rates. THAMES CATTLE. Banks and Co.’s Weekly Report, —On Wednesday the Parawai yards were well filled with cattle of prime quality, all of which were sold, realising 25s per lOOlbs. Sheep plentiful, and of variable quality, averaging 2id to 2sd per lb. Lambs, very good, sold at from 12s 6d to 14s 6d each. CANTERBURY GRAIN & PRODUCE(Latest Report.') The week having been observed almost as a close holiday, on account of the Races and Agricultural Show, we have no business to report in the grain market. The values of every line may be stated at the quotations of the previous week. The reports from the various districts respecting the growing crops continue satisfactory, the weather having been exceedingly favorable.
