VOLUNTEER CAPITATION.
Sir, — ft would be satiafaclory to several Ox-Volunteers if they could know what the Finance Committee of No. 2 Company are doing in this matter. A long time has elapsed since this money was forwarded to the captain for distribution. The reason so often propagated that all the Enfield rifles were still nnrelnrned can no longer be used as the cause for non-payment since the whole of the rifles have now been handed back to the Government. The Captain is thereby relieved of farther respnnsibilitj’, and there is therefore no justification in detaining the money longer than is absolutely necessary. Eight or nine months is most decidedly ample time to allow for the settlement of this simple matter, aud it could have been settled some time since. This continuous delay is disadvantageous to those who lent to the corps the money for purchase of uniforms, on the distinct understanding that it would be returned immediately on being remitted by the Government. This promise still remains unfulfilled. If the present Committee he unable to accomplish a settlement, let another committee be at once formed who can bring to a climax this tiresome bn mess.—Yours, H. Bush, Late No. 2 Company Patea Vo!,
