RECEIVED LAST NIGHT. (Renter's Despatches to the Mail.) MELBOURNE CUP. Wednesday. The race for the Cup was run to-day. Grand Flaneur, 1; Progress, 2; Lord Burghley, 3. Twenty horses started for this race, which was a capital one. Mata never showed to the front. Time—3 min 34|secs. CHAMPION SCULLING. London, 2nd. A sculling match took place over the usual course on Thames to-day, between Laycock of Sydney and Hosmer of Boston, for £2OO a side. The race resulted in an easy victory for Laycock by three lengths.
