ANOTHER CAPE WAR.

The situation of Basutoland is critical. The natives, under the leadership of rebellious chiefs, assembled in large numbers, and surrounded the detachment of Capo Rifles, stationed at Mulcting. Reinforcements were ordered up from the Capo, and volunteers left for the front, but the garrison are still unrelieved. It is believed that they can maintain their ground for some days, but they are still suffering great straits from want of supplies. Their provisions have been exhausted, and the cavalry horses have had to be sacrificed, the men having no other means of subsisting. Much anxiety exists concerning their position. The action of the authorities in not hastening the movements of tho relieving force is severely critised.
