WIIALKS IN Tin; S’J'KAIT. —The X.Z. Times says that when rounding Terawhit on the afternoon of the 17th, the steamer Patea sighted a large sperm whale, which was, to all appearances, quite indifferent as to her approach. The steamer passed within fifty or sixty yards of it without causing it to move a fin, and those on board no doubt cast longing eyes at it, and wished that they could secure it and tow it into port. The excitement at the Tanga rush, near 13eda, is increasing, 100 men are on the ground, but the authorities regard it as unimportant.
