NEW STEAMER FOR WAITARA.
Captain A. McGregor has resolved upon the construction of another steamer, which will be engaged in the West Coast trade —namely, from Mauukau to Waitara and Hokiaiiga, The now steamer will be composite in construction, in order to secure a light draught of water. 81ie will be about 200 tons register, and a sister ship to thcGlenelg, though slightly; smaller dimensions. Length of keel, 130 feet beam, 21 feet; depth of hold, 9feet. 81ic will be fitted with compound engines of 30 horsepower. The boilers will be high-pressure, multitubular, Hersca-going draught of water will be Tibet OinchesloS feet. Due provision has been made in her fittings to adapt her to the cattle trade, but special attention has been paid to providing suitable accommodation for passengers. The saloon is midsliips. There arc ten single berths in the ladies’ cabin while the saloon berths will provide sleeping accommodation for twenty-four persons. The contract time is six months.
