HAWERA.
[ F UO M 0u U (JO Ull E S i‘ 0 X L) UX T . | JtRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL , Friday Evening. The Waimatc Plains sale is at last making a good stir in Hawea. Coaches each day arc crammed—hotels are full to overflowing. “ Shake-downs ” arc the order of the day. The porkers on tbo Plains are greatly disturbed by persons inspecting the sections. Tbo general opinion is that (ho land will go from £0 to £7 per acre, some say much more. It will be greatly regretted if the land does go to an exorbitant price ; aud I think it would be well for the permanent prosperity of tiic district if the land went at the up-set prices. If the amount of law and court cases is any indication of prosperity, then wc decidedly prosperous. Mr Wray, R.M., was engaged from 11 o’clock yesterday until 5 afternoon, and then had to adjourn till to-day. The thick weather lias cleared up, and the mountain has again shown its top.
