WAVERLEY.
[PIIOM 0U II C OKU ESPOSD ENT,] BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Wednesday Evening. H.M. Court. —A sitting was held in the Town Hall on Monday. The only business of any importance was the ease of McDonald v. Head. The case was rather a peculiar one. It appears that several months ago McDonald gave Head his wntch to send to Wanganui to be repaired. Head entrusted the watch to a lad whom ho (Head) thought he know by sight. As the watch had never been delivered in Wanganui, McDonald summoned Read for the value of the watch, £3. Judgment for plaintiff. Since the case was decided, the watch has been found in possession of the same lad as it was entrusted to, he having been residing in the district all the time, and will now be called upon to explain his conduct. The case of Francis Williamson was adjourned to Patoa ; and three members of the Cavalry were fined Is and costs for firing blank cartridge in the streets. Cavai.uy Hall.—The annual Cavalry Ball takes place this evening in the new Town Hall. Great preparations arc being made by Host Hallam, who is to provide the supper.
