NEW AGENT-GENERAL. Colonel Whitmore lias been referred to as a likely successor to Sir Julius Vogel as Agent-General, but the report is very doubtful. LETTER FROM THE GOVERNOR. Sir Arthur Gordon wrote a private letter to Deputy-Governor Prendegast, saying lie would not be at Auckland before the fifteenth of next month.
