CANTERBURY STOCK. {Latest Report .) At the Canterbury Saleyards on Wednesday there was a large attendance of the general public, and the quality of the stock brought forward was good throughout. The number of stock penned for the week’s supply was 4796 sheep, 503 head of cattle, and 55 pigs. SHEEP. —In fat sheep the sales opened very dull, and there was but little improve ment towards the end ; compared to last week's sale there was a drop of fully two shillings per head on prime sheep. Extra prime quality realised 19s 6d each ; while the first shorn sheep of the season brought from 7s 6d to 9s 6d. We quote 2d per lb as an average for this description. Cattle. —ln cattle there were some prime lots submitted, but there was no improvement on last week’s prices. Prime bullocks sold to as high as £ll 10s per head, good .do from £8 5s to £9 10s. We quote 21s per 1001b as an average for good quality cattle.
Stokes.— There was a medium good supply of young stores brought forward, for which description competition was also dull, and many lots were passed in unsold. We quote two-year-old steers and heifers from £3 to £4 5s per head, yearlings £2 17s 6d.
