THE mistake many Advertisers make is to place their advertising expenses to current account instead of to capital account. Suppose a yearly expenditure of £IOO in Advertising produces a net profit of only £2O for the first year. Undoubtedly this does not mean a Joss of £BO, but it means a return of £2O per cent upon capital invested ; for the business is there, and will remain if properly looked after, and a kecond year’s Advertising will most certainly increase the profit on the full capital to 30 or 40 per cent. As a set-off to these expenses in the capital account of the enterprising business-man, he can show the increased value of the article advertised, and also of the goodwill of his business. Some business-men lose sight of this fact.— Advertisers' Manual. ■’VTOT many years since, the Newspaper Press was meagre and very limited. Now the opinion of the Colony is consulted, through the Press, upon the most and the least important questions of the day ; whilst, in a Commercial sense, an opportunity is afforded to Merchants and others of announcing to the world what they have to Sell, and what are the special. advantages of their goods.— Advt. Manual. PARTY POLITIC Sare Excluded from the Pafea County Mail, which is not a Party paper, ami will have nothing to do with movements or with persons whose object is selfish and inconsistent with the highest public good. The Politics of the Mail will, bo directed with an unselfish desire to promote the enduring prosperity of this District-; and any political advocacy of principles or measures will bo based on independent conviction. CABLE: i NEW S of all Important Events in every part of the British Empire, also in Europe, America, Australia, and other countries, is > Published in the Patea County Mail, by special .contract with Reuter’s Telegraph Company, whose reporters and agents are located in every important town in the civilised world.
