THE G HEAT CRICKET MATCH. The first day’s play in the match between the Australians and All-England eleven was witnessed by 30,000 people. Spotforth did not play' in consequence of one of bis fingers being broken in the match against 18 of Scarborough. On the second day (7th September) the match was resumedOwing to the rain overnight the wickets were dead, and the remaining English batsmen were soon disposed of, the innings terminating for a total of 420 runs. Second innings: Murdoch, not out, 79 ; Bannerman, 8 ; Groube, 0 j M’Donncll, 43 ; Slight, 0 ; Blackharn, 19 ’ Bonner, 13 ; Boyle, 3 ; sundries, 5. Six wickets for a total of 170.
