Colliery Explosion

IN BRITAIN. 150 MINERS KILLED. {Special Despatch to Mail.) London, Btb. A terrible colliery explosion occurred to-day at Seaham Colliery, and the loss of life is very groat. There were 150 miners iu the working at tho time and all are believed to be killed. The bodies are entombed in the pit, the shaft having fallen in, so that many days must be occupied in reopening it, and this cannot bo attempted until it becomes safe for volunteer parties to descend and dig out the debris at the bottom of the shaft. Fortunately the pit has not taken fire. The cause of the explosion is not known.
