MUNICIPALITY SCHEME.

A “ Normandy Settler ” asks us to call attention to the “ extraordinary proceedings of. the ilawura Town Board re amalgamation.” The Board lirst invited : a conference with Norman by representatives about forming a combined municipality, and then, after the conference with' Normanby had been held, the said Board rescinded, its previous resolution. A “ Normanby Settler ” is puzzled to know “ what manner of men compose this said Board.” Ho objects to being played with in this strange fashion ; and insists that “ if Normanby were true to itself, it would discontinue to support a township whose leading men practise only cunning and craft in their negotiations.” Our opinion is that the scheme was absurdly impracticable from the first, and that Normanby residents have not been rated at their proper value in being asked Ao sell their birthright for a poor mess of pottage.
