The Bank of England rate is percent. The market rate in England is 2£. IRISH POLITICS. SCENE IN THE COMMONS. London, 3rd. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Parnell reverted to the rejection by the House of Lords of the Registration of Voters (Ireland) Bill, and again proposed that the measure should be tacked to the Appropriation Act. Mr Forster, chief secretary for Ireland, opposed the proposition, but blamed the Lords for persisting in a course calculated to lead to a change in the constitution. Sir Stafford Northcote protested, and said ho was amazed at the language used by a Minister of the Crown. London, 4th. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Parnell’s motion that the Irish Registration of Voters Bill should be tacked to the Appropriation Bill'came again under discussion. After farther debate the motion was rejected. ENGLISH POLITICS. London, 4th, In the House of Lords to-day, the Hares and Rabbits Bill which had been amended in the Commons, and the Burials Bill which had also been amended by the Commons after its receipt from the Lords, were again considered. After discussion the amendments of the Lower House wore accepted, and both Bills finally passed. Parliament is expected to be prorogued on Tuesday next. MR GLADSTONE’S HEALTH. London, 4th, Mr Gladstone has returned from & cruise in the steamer Grantly Castle, off the coasts of Ireland and Scotland, and is now quite restored in health. THE CZAR’S PERILS. St Petersburg, 4th. The Czar has arrived at Livadia from St Petersburg. It is reported here that the lino of railway at Charkoff, in the province of the same name, has been discovered to be completely undermined, apparently with the object of blowing up a train. WRECKS AND LOSS OF EXERTION GOODS. Adelaide, Monday. It is feared that the Sorata’s position is hopeless, and she is certain to become a total wreck. It is believed she has on board a large quantity of exhibits for Melbourne. Monday, Later. The Sorata is expected to become a total loss. Her condition is now considered hopeless, being full ©f water, and the greater part of her cargo damaged. Melbourne. Monday, Five hundred tons of American exhibits were on board the ship Eric the Red, which has been wrecked at Cape Otway. She was bound from New York with exhibits for Melbourne. One passenger, the carpenter, the steward, and one seaman have been drowned. LONDON WOOL SALES. London, 4th. At the wool sale to-day, 7,000 bales were offered. The tone of sale continues firm. OUTWARD STEAMSHIP. Loudon, 4th. The steamship Orient sailed from Plymout to-day for Australia. STOPPING A SUNDAY LECTURE. Sydney, Monday. There was great excitement in town yesterday owing to the Government having prevented Professor Proctor from lecturing at the theatre oil Sunday night, by putting pressure on the lessee . A crowd of one thousand people proceeded to Proctor’s hotel and cheered him.
