CANTERBURY STOCK. (Latest Report.)

The weekly sale at Addington on Wednesday was largely attended, and there was a full supply of stock, sheep being unusually numerous. The bidding throughout the day was, however, well sustained, and all lots were sold at satisfactory rates. Sukki’.—Owing to the large entry of sheep, competition was not quite so keen as at the previous sale, and prices were somewhat irregular, but all the lots were quitted at little if anything under previous quotations. The top price obtained for cross-breds was 17s 6d, and the lowest 14s. Prime merinos sold at 14s, which we believe is the highest price obtained this season. We quote mutton at 3d per lb. Stores are largely enquired for, in proof of which it may be said that a line of cross-bred lambing-down ewes sold at 15s. Cattle.—Consequent upon the market being very fully supplied, beef dropped from 2s to 3s per 1001b, though it must be remembered that the price which obtained last week was exceptionally high. We quote beef at 24s to 27s Gd per 1001b. Stores, although more numerous than usual, sold readily at improved ratesTwo to three year old, fresh conditioned, mixed lots, realised from £5 to £5 10s, and extra good lines of steers £G ;18 months old, £3 to £3 10s ; weaners, 35s to 455. Pius display very little alteration, the prices being 15 per cent lower than the}’ were six months ago. AUCKLAND STOCK. (Latent Report.) Houses.—Good hacks and upstanding young horses selling well. Hides, Skins,&c. —Prices ranged from 34d. to 4 9-16 d. per lb.; for sound calfskins, 31-d.; sheepskins advanced in price, from 3s. to 5s 7d. each being obtained ; wool in grease, to B;|d ; tallow, from 20s. to 22s the cwt. Cattle, Sheep. &c.—lmproved supply; dairy, store stock, and fat beasts in demand, and prices have an upward tendency ; prime cattle, 32s ; inferior, 295. per lOOlbs. Dairy cows, £6 15s to £lO ; store cows, £4 to £5 10s ; weaned calves, £2 2s 6d. to £1 15s ; yearlings, £3 2s Gd to £3 15s ; 3-year-old steers, £G to £7 9s ; sheep in good supply, but short of requirements ; best wethers, 21s to 27s ; mixed sexes, IGs to 20s ; few pigs yarded, and no alteration in value. Butter (fresh), Is 3d ; salt butter, 8d to lOd ; eggs, lOd to Is per dox ; bacon and hams, provincial, 7d to lid ; Canterbury ditto, lOd to lid ; potatoes, local, £3 to £3 10s ; Canterbury ditto, £4 to £4 5s per ton. NEW PLYMOUTH STOCK. (.Latest Report .) Mr Courtney reports that at G Icnavon on Thursday 77 head were yarded, and about 60 head sold, at an advance. The prices realised were : —1 yearling steer. £2 12s 6d ; 8 small yearlings, £2 10s ; 5 1- and a-half old heifers, £3 17s Gd ; 2 good 2-year-old heifers, £4 15s ; 9 mixed steers and heifers, rather shy, 18-raontb to 2- old, £3 12s Gd ; 11 18-montli-old steers, £3 2s 6d ; 2 good yearlings, £2 12s 6d 1 3-year-old heifer, £4 5s : wild cow and calf, £4 5s ; 6store cows, £4 ; 4 18-month-old heifers, £3 15s ; cows, at calving, £7 10s and £8 ; heifers at calving £5 ss, and £6 ss, and £6 13s; fat steer, £6 10s ; hacks sold for £5 7s Gd ; £G 10s ; £7 ; £5 5s ; £3 15s ; £7 7s ; and £2 10s : old pair bullocks (privately), £ll.
