WAITOTARA.
[from OUR COR RE S 1> 0N1)E NT. J
Messrs Wilkie Bros, started platelaying on Monday afternoon, and have already made a fair amount of progress. The ballasting is completed at the Waitotara railway station, and it is expected this station will be opened on the Ist proximo. It is, howoxer, doubtful if the ballasting on the line can be finished by that date. Since my last communication re the school-room, I learn that the Education Board have authorised the local committee to arrange with a local contractor. The work, with some modification, is to be done for £33. The contractor, Mr W. Beaumont is now getting wheels, etc., ready to begin the work of removal during next month.
Our local musical talent is busily exercising itself in preparation for an entertainment to be given next week. My attention has been called to a further letter in the Wanganui Herald from X.Y.Z., congratulating himself on having reduced your correspondent to order. lie seems to think he has got hold of something good in the word “ vilifying,” but it spoils the effect to spell it with two “ I’s." I would inform the letter-writer that a person who strikes n blow in the dark, under cover of an anonymity, is a vilificr (with one I, which ought to be enough).
