The natives have again been flocking to Parihaka to attend the oracle’s meeting on the 17th inst. They expect the Prophet to try something now after the meeting. Mr Parris has wisely deferred paying the claimants in the block lately put through the Court, the money not coming to them until after the meeting; had he paid it during last week, no doubt but most of it would have been taken to Parihaka and given to Te Whiti, and Hawera would have lost this much required addition to its circulating medium. The various hapus on the Plains are, with the exception of a few decrepit old Maoris, quite deserted. The same is also the case at Oco. Mr McKcrrow arrived here on Saturday from Wellington ; Mr Humphries, the Chief Surveyor, is also here with the object of (consulting with him relative to the survey and sale of the Plains. Mr Hnrsthouse, Road Engineer, also arrived here the end ot last week
