CANTERBURY STOCK. (Latest Report.)
The trade and graziers mustered in strong force at the Addington Yards on Wednesday, when 4491 sheep, 231 cattle, and 107 pigs were entered for sale. The competition for sheep was fairly good, and for cattle very keen. Sheep. —The bidding for fat sheep was not so lively as at the previous sale, and except for special lines there was a slight drop in prices. There was a good supply of prime mutton, and a lot of extra large cross-breds realised 19s 6d each ; good do, 16s ; merinos sold up to 13s. We quote mutton at 2jJ-d per lb. There were no stores of an}' consequence in the market. Cattle — Beef was ia very limited supply, and the various lots accordingly excited very keen competition. We quote prime quality at 30s per 1001b. There is still a keen enquiry for stores. Two-year olds sold at £3 12s Gd, and springers up to £7 10s.
Pigs.—The demand for pigs continues to decrease, and prices have again fallen a little. They sold at prices ranging to JE3 10s.
