Calcutta, 3rd. Further details regarding the attack on General Burrows’ brigade by Ayoub Khan’s horde ot Afghan horsemen
show that the rout was complete and very bloody. Twenty British officers, 400 British troops, together with 800 friendly natives, were killed and wounded in the rout.

French troops to the number of GOOO will occupy Tonquin, in Cochin China, in September. Piracy is rife at the present time in Chinese waters.
TURKISH WAR PREPARATIONS. MASSING OF TROOPS. Constantinople, August 3. The Turkish forces in the districts of Epirus and Thessaly have been increased. to the extent of 50,000 troops,, in view of possible hostilities with Greece; INWARD SUEZ MAIL. King George’s Sound, Wednesday. Arrived, the P. and O. Company’s steamship Mnhoa, with the inward Suez mail, dated London, July 2.
