Bifle Competition.

A rifle shooting match took place on Saturday, between twelve volunteers of Patea and of Waverley; and the same Patea team against twelve of Wanganui ; 200 yds standing position, 400 yds and 500 yds any position. The weather was an almost continuous storm of wind and rain ; and it is surprising that volunteers should keepjtheir engagements so resolutely under such conditions. The Patea team fired in the afternoon in rain and high wind, and their scoring is below the average in their last victory against Wanganui. The results show that Wanganui beat Patea by 81 points, and Patea beat Waverley by S6 points. The scores are :

It will be observed that the highest individual score, 52, was made by Mr Pringle, of the Patea team, the next highest, 51, being made by Sergeant Ross, Wanganui.
