Patea Railway Contract.
MATERIAL ON THE WAY. ('Telegram from our Correspondent.) Wellington, Wednesday Night. Mr Downes, one of the contractors for the Patea section of Ilailway, arrived here to-day with his wife and family, by the steamer Hawea, They will proceed to Patea in a few days, and will reside in the township during the fifteen months for the contract work. Mr Downes has brought a largo quantity of material, which ho is forwarding to Patea. Operations will ha commenced on the Railway early in A ugust.
