Native Lands Court.

Patea, Saturday. At the request of Major Brown, who is watching the interests of Government, the To Ngaire JNui block was re-opened, and there being no objectors, Honi Pihama was, at the request of the claimants, made trustee. The grant will therefore issue in his name. The block known as To Ngaire-iti was not passed, the claimants being absent. Toko, a block of 16,000 acres, was then brought before the Gourt, but Honi Pihama gave evidence to the effect that 4000 acres belonged to him, and asked that that portion might be cut out and reserved for his children. This was agreed to by the Court, there being no opposition. Munga and others gave evidence in support of their claims, and the block passed, less the acreage claimed by Honi Pihama. This block is situated on the Toko, Mangehu, and Patea rivers, and may be reached with ease from.the Mountain-road. A block called Tutai-ari-ari, containing 12,000 acres, was also passed without opposition. This block is situated on the Patea river.

Patea, Monday, The time of the Court was taken up from 10 to 12 o’clock in deciding a number of applications from natives who wished to have their names and the names of relations putin the certificates of ownership to certain blocks. The Kaitaugiwhenua case, adjourned from Friday last, was then gone on with, but no natives from Wanganui put in an appearance to-day. After taking the evidence of several counterclaimants, the case of Kaitaugiwhenua was adjourned till Tuesday. Major Heaphy informed those present that it the Wanganui natives did not attend on Tuesday morning, the business would go on without them.
