WAVERLEY.
[f R0 M OUll COUKI!SP OND E S T.] BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Wednesday Evening, Larrikins. —This species of juvenile nuisance lias appeared in Waverley. It has up to the present assumed a mild form, ■such as rolling about empty casks, removing and misplacing ladders, and similar amusements. The pith of the joke is that the perpetrators could be so easily traced, audit would not be astonishing if some larrikin were caught in a harmless joke, and treated as a live nuisance in serious earnest for having mis-timed his amusement. But the whole is very childish) and entirely out of place. Georgia Minstrels. —This troupe was to have appeared on Monday evening) but owing to delay on the road from Wanganui they were not up to time. They remained for Tuesday evening, and gave a fair evening’s entertainment. The novelty of the the thing was one of its main attractions, while the get-up and acting were equal to the usual stylo of such entertainments. The singing and dancing of Billy Wilson elicited much applause. Town Board. —This body is taking steps to have some of the streets laid out at the proper level, and as the funds come into their hands there may be some improvement expected in our footpaths, as at present there is a large margin left for street improvement.
