The Turkish Government are determined ;to resist the decision of the European Conferance. Preparations are being made to mobilise an army corps, although finances of the Turkish empire are very low. Excitement is very great here. It is expected that troops will be concentrated on the Greek frontier.

CHINESE PIRACY PLOT. ATTEMPT TO SIEZE A SHIP. Cooklown, Monday. Mail steamer Bowen, from Hong Kong with mails, reports that on the outward voyage a piratical plot among Chinese passengers was discovered by overhearing conversation. They intended to sieze the ship during the night. All hands being armed, the passengers were mustered, and 25 Chinese were arrested. Boxes containing loaded revolvers and packets of powder with fuses attached were discovered. Prisoners were handed over to to authorities for prosecution.

MORE SUFFERING COLONISTS. Cooktown, Monday. A New Ireland colonising skip, the Genie, arrived at Singapore June 7th, with three feet of water in her hold. Her engineers had doscatcd her.
