Trade continues exceedingly quiet, with nothing special in. thb moderate enquiry that may bo noted. Wheat. —The price remains about 3s Gd for good milling, and 3s 3d to 3s 5d for good average samples. For a firstclass parcel Id to 2d more is obtainable. Seed lots are selling at 4s to 4s 3d. Chick wheat stands at the former quotation of 2s to 2s 6d for low, and up to 2s lOd for the better sorts. Oats. —First-class milling are quoted at Is 4d to ls4£d, with a slightly better feeling. Potatoes. — Values remain at 22s 6d to 255. The demand, if anything, has slighly improved. Fj.our is in fair request at £9 to £lO, according to brand. Dairy Produce is unchanged. CANTERBURY STOCK. (Latest Report.) There was a good muster of the trade at the Addington Yards on Wednesday last, and bidding all round was more spirited than on the previous sale day. The stock yarded for the week’s supply comprised 59G1 sheep, 322 cattle, and 257 pigs. Sheep. —There was a large supply of fat merinos and cross-breds, the general quality being good, though there were no first-class lines. Best lots sold as high as 17s Gd, and merinos up to 10s. We quote mutton at a shade over per lb. The stores yarded were of indifferent quality, no good ones coming to hand. Two-tooth

sheep realised up to 7s 6d each. There is still a good inquiry for good stores. r 1 ; Cattle.— The fat cattle were of very good quality, and sold at somewhat higher rates than last week. We quote hcef at 20s per 1001 bs. Stores sold at much the same rates as last week, and there is still a good inquiry for young stock of this description. ■ * Pigs. —The whole of the pigs yarded were from the North Island, and were of but indifferent quality. They sold at prices ranging up to £4 each. The enquiry for pigs continues very active.

F. R. JACKSON’S REPORT. June 30. Sheep. —7Bo were penned—Good stoic wethers, 7s 8d to 8s; fat do up to 10s 9d. Pigs. —lss, IGs Gd, up to 31s. Houses. —Low rates, no good animals offering. Exports.— so cattle, 1713 sheep, 31 horses, 2GO pigs. The Hawera sale, held held at the yards on the 24th, drew a largo attendance of buyers. The fact that all the Messrs Middlcmas’stock was to be offered without reserve, was sufficient inducement to attract attention. The stock- submitted for competition was of a superior quality, and showed to advantage tha benefit of good breeding, although I think the prices for the best sorts were not in proportion to those obtained for the inferior cattle. On the whole the sale was successful, every lot being sold under the hammer, and the vendors being satisfied with the results. The yards to-day wore overcrowded with cattle. Prices ruled as at last sale. Sheep were in limited numbers, and sold well. Horses wore of the worst dercription, a number of those offered being only screws, and useless. Pigs were in short supply, and sold at full rates.
