The insurances are £1,400., The owner estimates the loss on the stock at £SOO over insurance. Dunedin, 29th, By a fire on Friday morning the store of Mr Brown, of Portobollo, was destroyed. The building was insured for £2,000. HOTELS OR CLUBS ? Invercargill, 29th, It is rumoured that two hotels in Southland, for which licenses have been threatened to be refused, will he opened as Working Men’s Clubs, the present proprietors acting as manageis. This evasion is said to be easily practicable in the present state of the law regarding Clubs.
