(Reuter's Special Despatches to the Mail.) COERCING TURKEY. London, 12fh. As tlio result of a circular note which was sent by the British Government last month to the European Powers, specifying means for the solution of the Greek, Montenegrin, and Armenian questions, the Great Powers now presented a collective note to the Sultan informing him that he will be held responsible for the serious delay that has taken place in the cession of territory to Montenegro, and for his failure to execute the necessary reforms in Armenia. The note further states that the Great Powers will insist on a strict execution of the Treaty of Berlin by Turkey. The Sultan has not yet replied to the note. TROUBLES IN AFGHANISTAN. Calcutta, 12th. The report which was recently circulated to the effect that Ayoub Khan was making warlike preparations to wrest Candahar from the descendants of Shere Ali is now confirmed. The latest intelligence from Afghanistan states that, owing to defections from his supporters, Ayoub Khan’s movement has now totally collapsed. CLOSE OF WOOL SALES. London, Bth.
