PARTY-ABUSE.
The grievance the Premier has against Sir George Grey is that he has told all the people in New Zealand how the Honorable John Hall gridironed Canterbury. Mr Ballance has told all men how the Colonial Treasurer sought to injure the credit of the colony through lust for office. If Sir George Grey had gridironed Auckland as the Premier did Canterbury, he would have deserved the like condemnation. Mr Ballance can explain to the House and the country how our finances drifted into their present position. No Atkinson artifice can hide the fact that the delict _ was entailed by the continuous Ministry. Herein is found the political sin of the late Colonial Treasurer. When Sir George Grey saw men running away with-the public estate, he called out “stop thief.” When Mr Ballance found the member for Egmont conspiring to destroy the public credit, he exposed the conspiracy.—Wang.
