There was a numerous attendance at the Addington Yards, and the bidding for sheep was brisk, but for cattle it was very quietThe entries comprised 5503 sheep, 409 cattle, and 122 pigs. Sheep. —The competition for fat sheep was good, prime cross-breds realising 17s 6d each; good do, 12s to 13s 6d ; others from 9s to 10s each. We still quote mutton at 2d per lb. There was a keen enquiry for stores, which were in short supply. Cattle were in excess of the demand, consequently there was no improvement in prices. We quote prime beef at 17s Gd per 1001b. Stores were not very numerous, and all the lots were sold at about last week’s rates. Pigs are still in demand, and sell at high rates.
CANTERBURY HORSE MARKET. (Matson's Latest Report.) At Tattersall’s, 102 horses formed the catalogue, chiefly consisting of light sorts with a fair number of good useful farm horses, for which there was a fair demand. At the opening of the sale biddings dragged, but towards the middle and close competition became more animated, and sales were effected for a largo number at quotations. The large number of weedy, ill-bred stock coming forward every week tends to weaken trade, and militates against sale. of even good stock. Our sales were—Good serviceable draughts, from £3O to £42 ; ordinary, £22 to £2B ; medium to inferior, £ls to £18; and weeds from £8 to £l2 ; hacks and light harness horses, £l2 to £22 ; very inferior, £5 to £B. We have a capital demand for well-grown, decently-bred, upstanding geldings for cab, coach, or hack purposes, with none in the market.

Chick, wheat of the better class is saleable at 2s 4d to 2s lOd ; Idwes grades are sellinh at 2s and upwards. The quantity of wheat going on board ship for export, still continues heavy, and the total number of bushels shipped to the present time is already far in excess of the whole export of last season. Oats.— -The market for this grain has not bettered in any way since our last report. Feed quality is quoted at Is 2d to Is 3d, and millers at Is 4d to Is 44d.
