NATIVE OUTBREAK IN SAMOA. SHELLING VILLAGES Sydney 9th. A schooner arrived from Samoa, bringing news of the shelling of the two principal villages by H.M.S, Danac. The Samoans are much incensed, and threaten to sivarm Samoa city, and massacre the whites. The Danae remains to protect the whites,

It is officially stated that the Government has decided to abolish flogging in the Army and Navy, from next year. IMPROVING TRADE. London, June Bth, The Board of Trade returns of Imports for May show an increase of £2,781,250 compared with same month last year The Exports show an increase of £750,000 as compared with same period. FUGITITIVE BUSHRANGERS. * Sydney, Wednesday,' A man has been arrested at Tumut on suspicion, of being Joseph Byrnes, the bushranger. He has been remanded fo identification by the police.
RISING IN BUBMAH. Rangoon, 4th. The insurrection in Independent Burmah is rapidly extending. Twelve encounters have - taken place between a force of Burmese Government troops and a body of rebels. The ; former were defeated, and their commander captured by the rebels and beheaded. Four companies of British regiments which were ordered to j the frontier of British Burmah have started. •
COAL STRIKE IN N.S.W. Sydney, Wednesday. A ballot has been taken amongst minors on the proposals submitted by Mr Lloyd for settlement of the coal strike. The men have rejected the compromise and the strike continues.
