WAVERLEY.
[B' ROM OUR CORRESPONDEN T.] Missteelsy. Three wandering- musicians found their way to Waverley on Saturday. During the afterneon two boys with violins made a from house to house display of their abilities, and sometimes met with the coveted cash reward. In the evening the Commercial was the scene of operations, when the company in full force showed considerable talent, and met with a fair return in the needful. When shall we be favoured with a “little German Baud ?” Probably when Cook’s excursionists land at Patea. Football. —lt was more than could reeasonably have been expected that the Waverley Club should have come off as they did on Saturday, They have had no practice together this season, and were in great straits as to raising a sufficient number to go. When they have done a little work together they may be able to show well for Waverley in other competitions during the season. It left very little room for remark when the Waverley Club made two half-points and the Carlyle Club one half-point. Cadets. —lt seemed as if the idea of raising a cadet corps had fallen through, but it crops up that the movement is not dead nor the promoters asleep; as the names are being forwarded this week to head-quarters, when it is probable their services will be accepted and duly appreciated by the members.
