WANGANUI BANKRUPTCY CASE.
(Special to the Mail.) Wanganui, Monday Night. The case against John Selkirk Capstick, for alleged fraudulent proceedings in connection with his bankruptcy, was heard to-day. The prosecution broke down, and the information was dismissed. Four guineas costs were awarded to Capstick. RAPE AT TLMARU. (Special to Mail.) Timavu, Monday Fight. Frank Fowler has been committed for trial for a rape on a girl aged 16. KILLING A WIFE. Dunedin, 29th, A man named Lockhavd had a difference with his wife on Thursday night, and struck her. The blow proved fatal. An inquest will be held. OCTOGENARIAN DIED. Christchurch, 31st, Mrs Ekin, an old Canterbury resident died at Spreydon at the ago of 85. days before her death she walked >from Spreydon to Christchurch and back, a distance of 8 miles. She had been married 62 years, and her son died recently in England at the age of 60. WALKING MATCH. Christchurch, Monday. A walking match for 24 hours has been arranged between Swan, of Christchurch, and Gleeson of Timarn, for £IOO a-side. SPORTING. Christchurch, Monday. Mr A. Ray has disposed of his training establishment and racing stud to Dr Prims, of Christchurch. “ CHICKEN HAZARD.” Auckland, 31 sk Two men, Kingsley and Leopard, who have been under surveillance of the police, induced Major Wcstrap to play chicken hazard at the Cosmopolitan Hotel on Saturday night, when they won £6B. Wcstrap gave a cheque, but afterwards stopped payment, and communicated with the police. The landlord has been summoned for permitting gambling.
ABSCONDING FROM TRAINING SCHOOL.
Ten more boys absconded from the Naval Training School. Three were captured, and others arc still missing.
