LAND BOARD.

At the meeting of the Taranaki Land Board, on Monday, Mr August Lehman applied to purchase, on terms of deferred payments, section 13, block 5, Ngaire, containing 6G acres ; and Mr Geo. Carterton applied to purchase, for cash, section 42, block 6, Ngaire, containing 59 acres. Both applications were granted.— Mr George Fenwick, manager of the Otago Daily Times, wrote to the Board explaining how Hie instalment due on an allotment hold by him in the Moa Disjrict had not been paid, and requesting the Board not to forfeit the allotment. The writer stated that he had been summoned hurriedly to Christchurch on account of a libel suit brought against the Otago Daily Times., and, being so engiossed with this urgent business, he had inadvertently neglected to remit the instalment when it became due.—The Board considered the explanation satisfactory, and requested the Receiver of Land Revenue to accept payment of the overdue instalment.
