Wairoa RSaiaßoaud.—The Board held si .-meeting on Saturday evening; concerning the rate-money reported to havo.jbcen lost at Winehoomb’s fire 'in December last. It was proposed by Mr lon, and. seconded by Mr A. Aiken, “ That the chairman give Mr Winchcomb’s securities npticcE that he •has failed to pay t<i their account at the bank the sum of £55 I ts, rates collected ‘[irevions to"Bist'Alarch",' 1880;' and tliat they be requested to make good the amount without delay. 5 ' The motion was carried, and the mooting separated. Church ou IS no t and, — The contractor, Mr Porter, of- Wanganni; has got part of the timber on the ground, and some men arc at work. The whole design is not to bo carried-’out at present, so that the building cannot present the completeness and ’uniformity intended by the architect. Quickn’s Birthday.- —The Wa verier people arc to have, a dance in the new Town Hall to celebrate the 21th of May. There will no doubt be a good muster, and from the known managing tact of those who have the affair in hand, wo are counting on a pleasing success.
