IRISH PRESS LIBEL,' London, April 22. The Irish’Nation newspaper has indentifled itself with the extreme party, and'inconsequence of its violent articles in recent issues, the proprietor, Arthur M. Sullivan, has been served with a writ for libel by Phillip' Cal I an, member for Dundalk, a well-known Home Ruler. MEETING OF THE IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT. IRELAND’S LORD LIEUTENANT AND LORD CHANCELLOR. London, May 1, Earl Cowpor has been appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and Lord O’Hagan has been appointed Lord Chancellor of Ireland. At the wool sales to-day', 10,000 bales were offered, making a total of 111,200 catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was quieter and weaker. For inferior and faulty wool the demand is purely speculative. . April 28. At the wool sales to-day 11,300 bales were offered, making a total of 81.500 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was. rather weaker, and cross-breds of common to medium quality were £d to Id lower. MUTINOUS CREW. Sydney', Monday. The crew of the Chandernagaro having shown a mutinous spirit, police observation of the vessel day' and night has been necessary'.
Later. After consultations in presence of foreign Consuls the Chandernagare affair has been settled, and the crew have obtained their discharge. COLONISING NEW lEELAND. Sydney, Monday. News has been received that a steamer with several hundred foreigners for colonisation of New Ireland has been sighted in the vicinity of that island. OUTWARD STEAMER. The Orient Company’s steamship Aconcagua has anived herefrom Plymouth.
