HAWERA CRICKET CLUB.

The annual general meeting at' this Club was held at Lloyd’s Hotel, Hawera, on Saturday evening, there being a good muster of'members. Mr T. Mason, vicepresident, occupied the chair. The Hon. Secretary road statement of accounts, which showed a balance of cash in hand amounting to HI 17s Id, which, with amount of subscription yet to come in, would leave the club with about £ls to commence the season. The balance sheet was adopted. A. discussion took place in reference to amending ilnle 2, which made the commencement of the season in September, but ns other local clubs commenced at an earlier date, the club last year had been placed at a disadvantage, as when the secretary had endeavoured to arrange matches it was found that the other clubs had already made their arrangements. It was resolved that the season commence in August. The Chairman said he had a pleasant duty to perform, that of presenting a bat each to the highest average bowler and batter, also one to the best all-round player. As no conclusion had been previously arrived at in regard to the selection of the best all-round player, a discussion took place as to whether the selection should be left to the committee or the captain and vice-captain to arrange, and on the matter being put to the vote, it was resolved that the committee should decide. The committee awaided the prize to Mr I Farrington, who thanked the club for the bphour. The prize for the bent catch, a pipe, given, hy Mr Beresford, was awarded to Mr,Cunningham.
