WELLINGTON PRODUCE MARKET. Croskery, Hasell & Co. report Flour, £l2; oatmeal, £l2; pollard, £5 ss; potatoes, £3 10s to £4; bran, Sd per bushel; cheese, (id to apples, 7.s to 8s Gd; pears, 12s Cd to 14s; quinces, 7s Gd per case ; walnuts, 9d per lb ; fowls, 4s to 4s Cd per pair ; Nelson hops, 2s 3d per lb. Larry & Campbell sold at their market sale on Saturday -Apples, 8s to 11s ; pears, !)s to 12s; grapes, 15s to 22s per keg ; quinces, 7s to Ss ; walnuts, 9d to lOd per lb ; cheese, Gd ; salt butter, 7d to 8d ; fresh butter, 8d to Od ; onions, 8s to 10s ; potatoes, £3 to £3 ss; bran, !ld ; sharps, lOd ; chick barley, 3s ; oats, 2s to 2s 3d ; chick wheat, 4s ; New Zealand maize, 3s to 4s. We quote —Rye grass, 4s 3d; cocksfoot. 4s ; flour (lOOlbs), 13s. CANTERBURY STOCK MARKET. There was a good attendance at the Addington yards on Wednesday, 14 th, when the stock entered comprised 7950 sheep, 370 cattle, and 10(5 pigs. Sheep. — A large proportion of the sheep yarded were of good quality. Fat sheep ••ere more ready of sale than on the previous /ednesday, and prices advanced to 2d for est quality mutton, with 1 .J to 1J for medium, there were few lambs in the market, and all were taken up by the trade. Store sheep sold freely at 3s lid for merino ewes, and Gd 8d for cross-bred ewes for breeding purposes. Cattle. —A large supply or fat stock came to hand. The various lots were fairly competed for, and taken up by the trade at prices ranging up to 22s per 1001b for best quality. The bulk, however, sold at from 18s to 20s. Stores are still dull of sale.
Pigs.—A very superior line of pigs excited eager competition among the trade, and sold at prices equal to from -t.t to 5d per lb. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. Me Alfred Buckland reports, up to April 10, that straw brought Is 3d to Is 9d ; hay, from 2s to Is fid the cwt; ryegrass, 3s Id to 3s lOd; oats, 2s the bushel: bran and sharps, Is 9d the cwt. Horse stock sold freelyq medium draught, £2O to £27 ; heavy draught, £3l to £lO ; inferior horses, from £3 each. Hides in larger number than average. Those of good quality brought from 3d to 3Jd the lb ; tallow, 21s the cwt ; sheep skins, from lOd to Is 9d each; wool, in grease, "Id ; lambs wool, 7:] d; scoured wool, 9Jd the lb. Messrs Hunter and Nolan report, April 10th, as follows : Horses. —There has been a marked im* provement in the market both as to supply and demand. There remains an unsatisfied demand for really good hacks and light harness horses. Wo quote hacks from £5 5s to £ls 15s ; light harness horses, £l2 to £lB ss; medium draught colts, £2l to £3l 15s ; aged medium draughts, from £2B to £32. Cattle. —The supply has been good, and an improved demand has existed for dairy and store stock, and for fat beasts there has scarcely been a noticeable alteration in value. Wc quote—Daily cows, from £8 to £11; store cows, from £3 to £llos ; weaned calves, from £1 13s to £2 10s ; yearling steers, from £3 to £3 10s ; two-year-old steers, from £3 10s to £1; thrce-ycar-old steers, from £1 15s to £5 ss; beef, top sorts, 25s ; inferior, from 20s to 22s the 100 lbs. Sheer have been brought forward in very large numbers, but a brisk demand has existed, and prices ruled in favor of the vendor —ls lOd per 8 pounds being freely given for good wethers. Very few lambs were yarded, and sold at from 11s Gd to 12s 9d. .Pros.—“ Very few yarded. There exists a good enquiry. CHRISTCHURCH RETAIL PRICES, Thursday, April 15.
