HAWERA.

(FROM OUR OWX CORRESPONDENT.) A meeting of Chnrcli of Itngland people was held at Lloyd’s Hotel on Saturday evening, but owin ' - to the boisterous weather, there were not many present. Mr J. R, Lysaght was voted to the chair. The meeting resolved that two gentlemen be appointed to canvass the district and see how much money conld he obtained towards building a place of worship, and also to obtain an estimate of what a building could be erected for, and to report at an adjourned meeting to be held on 24th instant. Mr Hobbs kindly consented to act as one of the canvassers, and he stated that he had no doubt Mr Perry would act as another, as he took a great deal of interest in it. A subscription list was started in the room, and the handsome sum of £65 12s was subscribed.
