The sale held to-day at St. Dili HI root Sale Yards was the dullest that 1 have hold tor some time, more especially noticeable in (he bidding for fat cattle, which were in large supply, and of the best quality. It was evident that the trade had laid in their Christinus supply beforehand, the result was that 20 head had to be turned out urn-old. Prices for i'al slock being low in all parks of the colony, we cannot, look to outside markebs for much assistance in clearing our supply. Imt, faking inlo consideration the abundance of feed and the largo number of fat cattle offering. I cannot see how the present prices can be main'ained timing the summer months. For fat sheep it is different, as the boiling down establishments make us iudepeudonl of the shipping trade. Not many stove cattle ■were offered, the bidding and prices were good considering the quality, which was not verv good. A number of really first-class slump were penned, and met a ready sale al ((nutations, some capital wethers having been sold for “boiling.” The establishments having commenced operations a ready sale may he calculated upon at boiling down prices for some time to comic. Exports—so cattle, 4 20 sheep.
