We have received the following- letter from the Secretary of the ah ive Association, which we willingly give puolicity to : u Wellington, 27ih Nov,, 13CJ. “ SIU, — By direction of the Commute 0 of the Wellington Local Industries As" sociation, I have the honor to iiiiorm you that a movement, just commenced, is on foot for holding a comp'-tetive exhibition of the production of all nations, in Wellington, to follow that of Melbourne. 1880. “ The plan upon which tim preliminary arrangements arc based, is—l hat the Exhibition shall be essentially a peoples exhibit ion, and it is anticipated tiiat by a subscription of one shilling each from the. people of the colony, a large amount maybe raised, which the Government will be asked to supplement ; in fact, taking advantageofthepresent session of Parliament, this has been anticipated by a request already preferred in the above direction. “This, then, is a brief outline of pur views so far ns regards pr-limimoy - . arrangements. The scheme is being organised, and its success will depend mainly upon the support winch it wih receive from the Press of New Zealand.
