Major Atkinson, in reply to Mr Stevens, said they hoped to see their way clear to place the Fire Brigades of tiie colony in the same position as regards capitation allowance as that held by Volunteers. Sir George Grey asked if Government were prepared to purchase locomotives built in the colony, at an advance on the price paid for engines imported from England or America. Air Oliver said the number of engines ordered by the late Government were quite sufficient to meet the requirements for several years. Mr Rolleston, replying to Mr Barron, said arrangements bad been made by which maps, showing lands open for occupation, be bung in conspicuous places at each •Land and Post Ofiice. Remainder of sitting in Committee on Registration of Electors Bill. On the motion of .Major Atkinson, clause 19 was amended, by which objectors in eacli case deposit ‘2Us. Mr Hislop moved that no objection be entertained, except such as is mentioned in summons, which was carried on the 'voices.
Trice of rolls was fixed Is per thousand names, and Is 6d above that number. Several minor amendment were made in 'other clauses-; several proposed amend'iiients were rejected. Interrupted at 5.30.
