A boat manned by seven hands, left the Railway Wharf for Mokau at 4.30 this morning, with the necessary gear for launching the Hannah Mokau. Whilst crossing the bar here, she filled and foundered, four of the hands being drowned, viz., Benjamin Gollop, Harry Tate, Fred Archer, and George Turrell. Gollop leaves a wife and five children. Tate Was only four months married. Archer and Turrell were lately seamen on board the schooner Nelson. Archer’s body came ashore at ten. No others yet recovered. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Wellington, November 7. In the House to-day, Mr Ballalice gave notice that County Councils exercise the functions of Waste Land Boards within their respective districts, and that the Boards be abolished in 1880. The Triennial Parliaments Bill will be brought up as amended. Mr Reeves moved that Clause 3 be amended, to make Parliament expire in December, 1882, instead of February’. The Premier wanted the Bill reported, and other business proceeded with. The Bill was then reported by 42 against 24, read a third time and passed.
